F1 International Student Services
The OIP provides services for the international students who are not permanent residents of the United States. Also, it provides orientation programs and workshops that assist with adapting to life in the United States while pursuing their education. Professional counseling assistance is available for students with immigration concerns as well as academic and personal difficulties.
The Writers’ Studio
The Writers’ Studio is a place where all HT students can come to receive support and guidance at any stage of any writing project, whether the project is academic, professional, or creative.
The Writers’ Studio invites all student writers to bring any writing project for a consultation with a trained peer or professional writing consultant. These services are free and confidential.
Income Tax Workshop
Sprintax, which replaces the International VITA Tax Workshops of previous years, is the tax preparation software provided by the OIP for international students and scholars to mail at least one federal nonresident tax form (form 8843) to the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). If an international student worked or received a stipend, grant, or allowance from HT, they may need to file a Form 1040NR.
Airport Pickup Service
The OIP has partnered with on-campus organizations to provide complimentary pick-ups from Austin Bergstram International Airport at the start of the semester for international students. The airport shuttle is only available for students arriving to HT from outside of the U.S.
