International students are allowed to work on campus for not more than 20 hours per week while classes are in session. However, during certain breaks (Christmas Holiday, Spring Break, and summer), students can work full time.

Both undergraduate and graduate students may begin working on-campus in their first semester in school.

Definition of On-Campus Employment. International students may apply for positions in various campus locations including: 

     • Employment for the University such as these positions: SBT Computer Lab Assistant, Resident Hall Assistant,
        Writer’s  Studio  Assistant, etc. 

   • Work performed at a campus location for a commercial firm providing direct services to students such a 
      A La Carte  Hospitality.

Work-Study Jobs. These jobs are not available to international students. Work-study jobs are part of federal financial aid packages and are only available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.

 Full-Time Enrollment. Students working on-campus jobs must be enrolled as full-time students. One exception is if students are in their final semester of school.

Students in their final semester are permitted to work on campus even if they are enrolled for less than full-time credits. However, students in their final semesters are required to submit a Reduced Course Load form.

U.S. Taxes. You will be required to pay tax on your earnings. However, you may be exempt from some payroll taxes. Contact the HT Payroll Office for more information on this topic
