The Fulbright Program is one of several United States Cultural Exchange Programs whose goal is to improve intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy, and intercultural competence between the people of the United States and other countries through the exchange of people, knowledge, and skills. The Fulbright Program is administered by the U.S. Department of State (DOS).
FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR-IN RESIDENCE (S-I-R)
The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (S-I-R) Program assists U.S. higher education institutions in expanding programs of academic exchange, by supporting non-U.S. scholars through grants for teaching.
Beginning in 2007, the University has welcomed Scholars from Latin America, Africa, and China. These Scholars have taught an array of courses including International Negotiations, Global Strategic Management, and How to do Business in China.
FULBRIGHT FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING ASSISTANT (FLTA)
The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA) is designed to develop Americans’ knowledge of foreign cultures and languages by supporting language teaching assistantships at U.S. institutions of higher education. The program offers educators from over 50 countries the opportunity to develop their professional skills and gain first-hand knowledge of the U.S., its culture and its people.
The University has been awarded a FLTA from China each year since 2006. The FLTA teaches Chinese I, Chinese II, and Chinese Culture classes.
